Chinese President Meets German Visitors

Chinese President Jiang Zemin met in Beijing Wednesday with the chief editors from two major German newspapers, Stefan Aust of "Der Spiegel" and Dr. Thomas Garms of "Welt am Sonntag".

Chinese President Jiang Zemin met in Beijing Wednesday with the chief editors from two major German newspapers, Stefan Aust of "Der Spiegel" and Dr. Thomas Garms of "Welt am Sonntag".

Jiang expressed his pleasure at meeting the two chief editors ahead of his visit to Germany this month, and asked them to conveyhis greetings to German President Johnannes Rau and to the German people.

Jiang answered their questions about Sino-German relations, China's political and economic situation and international affairs.
