The whereabouts of Osama bin Laden, the prime suspect for the September 11 terror attacks on the United States, is still unknown, Afghan interim leader Hamid Karzai and visiting Pakistani President Pervez Musharaf said at a joint press conference Tuesday in Kabul.

Bin Laden was not in Pakistan, Musharaf said. "Nobody has any access to him and nobody has any information on him. I thought probably he was dead," Musharaf said.

"In my view, maybe he is dead," he added.

Karzai said that he did not know where bin Laden was either. "If we find out that he is alive somewhere, we'll definitely go forhim," he said.

In their talks prior to the press conference, the two leaders agreed to strengthen coordination against terrorism and drugs trading.
