Shandong Fail to Tamble Defending Champions in CBA Semi-finals

In one of the best games of this season, Shandong Flaming Bulls failed to tamble defending champions Bayi Rockets on home court in a Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) semi-final in Jinan, Shandong Province.

Shandong lost 105-102 in the first game of the best-of-five CBA semi-finals.

Forward Chen Zhaosheng was 1-2 on free-throws with the Rockets leading 103-102 down the stretch. Rockets' Zhang Jinsong made the winning layup on guard Fan Bin's airball with 10 seconds left.

Flaming Bulls' reserved center Jin Minshang attempted a 3-pointer over one meter away from the arc, and the ball bounced back from the board to Rockets' player.

The next two matches of the series will be played at Rocket's home court in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, with the Flaming Bulls having less chance to pull back. The Rockets' have kept a 62-game winning streak at home.

Shandong had lost starting shooting guard Liu Tie, who was injured in the first round against Beijing Ducks. Pivot Gong Xiaobin, who plays at power forward, was also hurt at the fourth quarter after scoring team-high 26 points in 20 minutes.

Regular-season "Best Scorer" Liu Yudong had 29 points for the Rockets, with Li Ke contributing 27 points and 11 rebounds.

Shanghai Sharks won 114-99 over Jilin Northeast Tigers in another semi-final match, in Changchun, Jilin Province. Sharks leads the series 1-0.
