Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi left Manama Sunday afternoon for the Saudi Arabia after winding up her two-day visit to Bahrain, where she held talks with the leaders of this Gulf nation.
In a written statement issued upon her departure, Wu said that she was highly impressed by the great social and economic achievements of the people of Bahrain under the leadership of King Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
Deeply touched by the friendly feelings of the Bahraini people towards the Chinese people, Wu expressed confidence that friendly and cooperative ties between China and Bahrain would inevitably result in more effective development in all fields in the new century thanks to concerted efforts of the two sides.
During her visit in Bahrain, Wu conveyed greetings from Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao to the Bahraini Crown Prince Salman Ibn Hamad, who met with her on behalf of King Hamad.
Wu, who arrived in Manama on March 29, also met with Bahraini Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa Bin Sulman Al-Khalifa.
Bahrain was the fifth leg in Wu's six-nation Mideast tour. She has visited Iran, Lebanon, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
