About 10 people were killed in an attack by suspected militants on a Hindu temple in the Indian-controlled Kashmir on Saturday, local media reported.
The report said about four suspected Muslim militants stormed the 150-year-old Raghunath temple in the Hindu-dominated region and exchanged gunfire with Indian security forces.
Those killed included four policemen, four civilians and two suspected militants, and at least 20 more people were injured in the attack, the report said.
Indian police launched hunting operations immediately after theattack, and they were backed up by the army who rushed to the scene shortly and cordoned off the temple area.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Indiahas often blamed Pakistan-backed Muslim militants for similar attacks in the Indian-controlled Kashmir, but Pakistan denied its involvement.
