Guangdong-Taiwan Trade Fair Opens
More than 2,000 Taiwanese investors and businessmen gathered in Zhuhai city in Guangdong Province, south China, Friday for the opening of the 2002 Guangdong-Taiwan Economic and Technological Trade Fair.
More than 2,000 Taiwanese investors and businessmen gathered in Zhuhai city in Guangdong Province, south China, Friday for the opening of the 2002 Guangdong-Taiwan Economic and Technological Trade Fair.
Some 198 projects were displayed at the fair by 22 cities and prefectures in Guangdong inviting investment from Taiwan investors,in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, machinery and electronics, chemicals, textiles and garments.
Guangdong ranks first in the Chinese mainland in investment from Taiwan.
By last year, the province had approved 14,136 investment projects involving 11 billion U.S. dollars of Taiwan capital in real terms.
Lu Ruihua, governor of Guangdong, said at the opening ceremony that Taiwanese investment had been an important source of overseascapital for the province.
The province plans to open more sectors to Taiwanese investors,in particular the service and trade sectors, including finance, insurance, telecommunications and securities.
