The rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) are to be carefully studied in Beijing to protect the interests of local export businesses, a trade official said Wednesday.

Chen Zexing, deputy director of the Beijing Foreign Trade and Economic Commission (BFTEC), said that unfair treatment in bilateral trade will be gradually eliminated now that China has joined the WTO.

The key is to help domestic business people become familiar with the WTO rules and use them effectively, Chen said.

According to him, two legal aid systems will be established this year to help export enterprises deal with anti-dumping lawsuits and secure the fair and justified bilateral trade.

A WTO affairs office has been set up at the BFTEC whose main task is to find cases of unfair treatment of local export businesses, report them to relevant authorities and then solve them through bilateral and multi-lateral trade negotiations.
