Striking Iraq Yields No Good Results: Saudi Crown Prince
Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, said that military strikes on Iraq would not bring any good results to the U.S., the world, or the Mideast region, Lebanese Oriental Radio reported Tuesday evening.
Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, said that military strikes on Iraq would not bring any good results to the U.S., the world, or the Mideast region, Lebanese Oriental Radio reported Tuesday evening.
Abdullah, who arrived earlier Tuesday at Beirut International Airport for the 14th Arab Summit on Wednesday, was quoted as voicing the opposition, apparently referring to the repeated U.S. threat that Iraq might be the target of the second phase of the ongoing U.S.-led anti-terror war.
Abdullah put forward a new Middle East peace initiative in mid- February, suggesting the normalization of relations of Arab nations with Israel in exchange for the latter's withdrawal from all Arab lands occupied in the 1967 Mideast War.
The Saudi proposal is expected to be adopted at the summit by Arab leaders into a unified Arab peace plan in a bid to solve the Mideast problem and materialize a just, durable and lasting peace in the region.
