China's first anti-drug college department was founded Saturday in southwest China's Yunnan Province, according to the China News Agency.
With a roll of 430, the new department is organized by the Yunnan Advanced College for Public Security, which will run systematic courses on the detection, examination and prevention of drugs, and related laws and regulations concerning drug control, the agency said.
In addition, the department will also conduct scientific research and help train anti-drug policemen for southeastern Asian countries.
The college began to run anti-drug courses and conduct anti- drug research in the 1980s, and has so far provided hundreds of professional staff for the province's anti-drug forces.
Adjacent to the drug-producing Golden Triangle of Southeast Asia, Yunnan is on the main routes for drug-trafficking to China and is on the front-line of China's anti-drug war.
