Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov on Monday arrived at the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator for a two-day official visit to the country at the invitation of his Mongolian counterpart Nambaryn Enkhbayar.
This is the first time that a Russian prime minister visits Mongolia in 31 years.
Russian-Mongolian relations suffered a standstill since 1990. In November 2000, Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a visit to Mongolia, which greatly promoted the development of political relations between the two countries.
The visit of Kasyanov to Mongolia will have an important significance on the promotion of economic cooperation between the two countries, which has been lagged behind their political cooperation by a large margin.
