Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Saturday pledged that his government will continue its policy to fight terrorism abroad and militancy at home.

Musharraf made the commitment in his message to the nation on " Pakistan Day" that befalls March 23.

Musharraf said in the message, "Pakistan's role in the fight against terrorism abroad and militancy at home has brought in accolades," and "We would continue with this policy not due to any external pressure or desire to please any one but as a national agenda aimed at translating Quaid- e-Azam's (Muhammad Ali Jinnah's) vision of Pakistan into reality."

Musharraf said, "Our economy is on way to recovery, governance has improved, structural imbalances are being addressed and Pakistan's global standing has risen. Our military capability is strong enough to deter any aggressor from committing any misadventure against Pakistan."

Musharraf hoped that the forthcoming general elections in October this year would bring into power a kind of leadership that would bring still greater strength and glory to Pakistan.
