Dozens of people were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in downtown Jerusalem Thursday afternoon. The suicide bomber himself was killed in the blast.

Israeli officials said that at least 20 people have been taken to hospitals.

Loud sirens of ambulances or police vehicles are heard in the city.

The bomber apparently struck at the junction of King George and Histadrut Street, close to the scene of several suicide bombings over the past months.

A witness in a language classroom on King George Street heard a huge explosion in the vicinity and the teacher in the class began to cry after hearing the explosion.

All roads in and around the site of the bombing have been closed to traffic.
