Visiting Ecuadorian President Gustavo Novoa Bejarano said in Beijing Thursday that his visit to China has been satisfactory and is bearing fruit.
At a press conference, Novoa said while in Beijing he held talks with President Jiang Zemin, and met with Chairman Li Peng of the National People's Congress Standing Committee and Premier Zhu Rongji.
Novoa said they exchanged views on issues of common concern, and signed a series of agreements, adding that his visit will further cement the friendly and cooperative ties between the two nations.
He would like to increase the two countries' trade relations and strengthen their cooperation in areas such as agriculture, petroleum, marine products and bridge building, and invited more Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in his country.
He stressed that Ecuador will adhere to the "One China" principle.
The Ecuadorian President also answered questions raised at the press conference.
