Chinese Vice-President Meets Brunei Crown Prince

China is ready to continue its efforts to strengthen cooperation and promote the friendly relations with Brunei, Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao said Thursday.

China is ready to continue its efforts to strengthen cooperation and promote the friendly relations with Brunei, Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao said Thursday.

At a meeting with Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah of Brunei Darussalam, Hu said that China and Brunei have enjoyed long-term friendship, and bilateral relations have developed smoothly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 11 years ago.

The two countries have cooperated fruitfully in dealing with the regional and international affairs, he said, calling China- Brunei relations a good example of cooperation between countries with different social systems on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

He said China appreciates the contribution of Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the royal family in promoting the bilateral relations.

Billah said that Brunei Sultan attaches great importance to developing relations with China. Brunei Sultan visited China four times, and was deeply impressed with China's rapid economic development.
