Peres' Visit to China to Benefit Peace, Stability: FM Spokeswoman
Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres will pay an official visit to China from March 24 to 26 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan.
Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres will pay an official visit to China from March 24 to 26 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said on Thursday that the two sides will exchange in-depth views on bilateral relations, and regional and international issues of common concern.
She said China is willing to develop and maintain friendly cooperative relations with all countries, according to the five principles of peaceful co-existence.
She said, "We hold that to develop normal state-to-state relations is in accordance with the interest of two peoples and will benefit regional peace and stability."
She said the Middle East is in tension and turmoil and the Chinese government has long paid attention to the situation there. During Peres' visit, Chinese leaders will exchange in-depth views with Israel on the Middle East situation.
Zhang said China welcomes Israel's withdrawal from occupied Palestinian land, adding, "We hope Israel will complete withdrawing from the land as soon as possible, in order to provide necessary conditions for Israel and Palestine to resume peaceful talks."
