Inte'l Construction, Building Materials & Urban Services Exhibition Opens in Beijing

The 7th International Construction, Building Materials & Urban Services Exhibition opened in Beijing Wednesday, and more than 800 enterprises from home and abroad attended the exhibition for access to the construction projects Beijing will lanuch for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The 7th International Construction, Building Materials & Urban Services Exhibition opened in Beijing Wednesday, and more than 800 enterprises from home and abroad attended the exhibition for access to the construction projects Beijing will lanuch for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The three-day exhibition, sponsored by the Ministry of Construction, is one of the large international professional exhibitions in China. The enterprises participated came from the U.S.A., the U.K., France, German, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and 25 provinces of China.

The exhibition presents some new technologies and materials in building steel structure, subway and light track, decorative material, building electric, engineering machinery, urban sight and so on, and most products exhibited were made for the purpose of environment protection and were hoped to be applied in Beijing's city construction in the future six years.

The investment in Beijing's city construction in the next five years will top 180 billion yuan (about 21.75 billion U.S. dollars), in which 17 billion yuan (about 2.05 billion U.S. dollars) for gymnasium construction and 71.3 billion yuan (about 8.61 billion U.S. dollars) for environment protection. About 142 projects will be built in the future five years.

Khan Yong, Marketing Director of Marbon Industries Sdn Bhd of Malaysia said it was the first time for his company to attend China's exhibition. He noted that China has become the biggest market for his company, hoping to seek more opportunities in Beijing.

Steel building is the core of the exhibition. Most of the noted steel groups in China like Shougang Group, Shanghai Baosteel Group, and many others from overseas show great interests in the gymnasium construction market of Beijing.

As most steel enterprises from home and abroad eyed the steel market in Beijing, the winner will be the fastest, said Wu Bo, Business Department Director of Wuchang Shipyard.
