The State Development Planning Commission (SDPC) of China announced the results of the inspection of local power providers in rural areas in Beijing Tuesday.

Seven local power sectors from rural areas were found to have made illegal charges for electricity. They have been punished by the SPDC and have been urged to return the extra money illegally charged to the rural people. Most of the money has now been returned.

The SDPC says its is in the process of reconstructing the rural power grids.

Supervision to regulate rural electricity market
According to the SDPC rural power grid reconstruction and rural electricity price reforms are important measures being taken by the Chinese government to relieve rural people's burden. The SDPC stresses that all sectors involved should abide by the national policies on the supply of rural electricity and the reconstruction of rural power grids, and any illegal activities will be punished.
