Premier Zhu Meets Japanese Guests
Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met Tuesday with a delegation from businesses in Kansai, Japan. This is the fifth time that the Kansai region has sent a large- scale business delegation to China. The delegation is co-headed by Kansai Economic Federation Chairman Yoshihisa Akiyama and Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Wa Tashiro.

Mutual understanding promoted
Zhu expressed appreciation for the efforts that the firms in Kansai made to promote mutual understanding and economic cooperation between the two countries over the years.
He said as the 30th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries falls this year, both sides should try to create a favorable long-term political environment, a steady and healthy development of Sino-Japanese friendship, and trade and economic cooperation on the basis of the three political documents signed between the two countries.
This is in the interest of the people of the two countries and conducive to the economic development in both the Asia-Pacific region and the world, Zhu said.
President Jiang's comments on Sino-Japanese relationship
When president Jiang met former Japanese guests this Feb, Jiang said that reviewing the Sino-Japanese relations over the past 30 years, especially the recent dozens of years, the only correct choice for both sides is to adhere to friendship, adding that friendship can promote common prosperity and benefit both countries and peoples.
He said that peaceful development best conforms to the interest of the Japanese nation, and is also the hope of Asian countries and peoples. Politicians of both countries should proceed from this overall situation and pay attention to the fundamental wishesand interest of the two peoples, always educate the young generation with correct concept of history and promote the development of Sino-Japanese relations in a continuous way, so as to maintain friendship between the two peoples from generation to generation. >>details
