ROK to Retrieve Tickets from Koreans for Chinese Fans
ROK Organizing Committee of the 2002 World Cup Finals Monday said that ROK will retrieve the tickets for the games by China National Football Team from Koreans and provide these tickets to the Chinese fans so as to meet their demands. Besides, Korea has prepared more than 700 resident families to provide lodgings to the Chinese fans during the games.
If Korean fans return their tickets for the games by the Chinese team, they will instead get a special treatment offered by the Organizing Committee including getting a ticket of a better seat by other teams or two tickets of other teams said Un-Yong Kim, director of general affairs bureau of Korean Organizing Committee for the 2002 World Cup in Seoul Monday.
Kim said that the Organizing Committee reported their plan to the FIFA. And in response, FIFA gave the right for decision-making to Korean Organizing Committee.
Measures to Attract more Chinese Tourists
As reported by the media of Seoul, Korean Organizing Committee adopts the measure to meet the demand of the Chinese fans. It aims at attracting more Chinese tourists when the 2002 World Cup comes to conclusion so as to promote further the economic benefits. It is said that Korean purchased about 53,000 tickets for the games by the Chinese team.
In addition, since less foreign reporters will come to ROK then expected, Korean Organizing Committee plans to cut down half of the 40,000 seats originally reserved for reporters. Of which the 20,000 seats will be sold as ordinary ones.
700 Resident Families to Provide Lodgings for Chinese
Sources from media of Seoul also say Korea has prepared more than 700 resident families to provide lodgings to the Chinese fans during the games. It is estimated that there will be about 40,000 Chinese fans come to Seoul during the period. All the 700 assigned families can speak Chinese.
Besides, Seoul will set up lodgings for foreign fans in southern bivouac and Seoul Grand Park which can contain 1,400 persons. The charge of these lodgings per person is planned to be US$10. Charge of residential lodgings for foreign fans is US$30 per day, and, hotels for backpacking travelers, US$20.
Many Chinese fans will inevitably try to show their support on the stadium's sidelines for the much-anticipated Cup finals to watch their country play in the World Cup Finals debut, a moment they have wanted for more than 40 years.
Wang Zhanjun does not just eat, drink and think football, he lives and breathes the game. As he sits under a giant inflatable soccer ball in his "Soccer Fan" restaurant, he dreams of only one thing -- cheering China to victory on their debut in the World Cup finals.
