The number of visitors to the " 2002 Hong Kong Flower Show" has reached a historic record of about 560,000, according to Hong Kong's Leisure and Cultural Services Department Monday.
"The record attendance represents an increase of about three percent compared with the corresponding period last year. It indicates public's acceptance and appreciation of our carnival type of show with many rich and entertaining fringe activities," said Chairman of the Flower Show Organizing Committee Alfred Cheung.
The flower show, which was held from March 8 to 17 at Hong Kong 's Victoria Park, had attracted 76 local floral and horticultural associations and 34 organizations from the Chinese mainland and foreign countries including Holland, South Africa and Thailand.
Hong Kong began to hold the annual flower show more than 30 years ago.
