Kazak President Meets China's Senior Military Officer

China and Kazakhstan have solidified mutual trust and enlarged cooperation in various fields of mutual interest since the two countries established diplomatic ties 10 years ago, Kazak President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Monday during a meeting with a senior Chinese army officer.

China and Kazakhstan have solidified mutual trust and enlarged cooperation in various fields of mutual interest since the two countries established diplomatic ties 10 years ago, Kazak President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Monday during a meeting with a senior Chinese army officer.

Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Staff, on his first official visit to Kazakhstan, was warmly received by the Central Asian country.

Nazarbayev said his country cherishes the friendship with China and wishes to increase exchanges with China in all fields, such as reinforcing cooperation in anti-terror war and safeguarding regional security and stability.

Xiong expressed gratitude to Nazarbayev. He said Kazakhstan and China support each other on many major world issues, thus making great contributions to regional stability and security.

China is ready to make great effort along with Kazakhstan to push forward the friendly bilateral relations, in particular military ties, Xiong said.

Xiong, who arrived here on Sunday, has met with Kazak Prime Minister Imangali Tasmagambetov and exchanged views with Defense Minister Mukhtar Altynbayev on international and regional security before meeting the president.
