China would like to work with the European Union (EU) to properly deal with any differences on human rights issues through continuing dialogue and exchanges based on equality and mutual respect, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue Thursday.
The Chinese government places great importance on protecting the human rights of Chinese people and has made remarkable achievements in this field, Zhang said at a regular press conference.
The recent report released by foreign ministers from 15 EU members also stressed the importance of Sino-EU dialogue on the human rights issue, she added.
Foreign ministers from 15 EU members meeting in Brussels Monday passed an annual report on the human rights issue in China and decided to take the same stance to last year when dealing with resolutions relevant to China in the forthcoming meeting of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.
