Officials from ASEAN ( the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) who gathered in Siemreap city, northern Cambodia have drafted an agreement on joint development of tourism, the Rasmei Kampuchea Daily in Khmer reported on Thursday.
The agreement includes provision of more convenience to visitors, opening more tourist ports, development of tourism- capable personnel and improvement of service quality.
Participants have fully affirmed the achievements made by ASEAN nations in the tourism sector and they have decided to join hands in pushing the tourism of ASEAN forward, the paper quoted Tourism Minister Veng Seveyvuth as saying.
An ASEAN tourism meeting at the ministerial level is scheduled to be held in Thailand on April 23, 2002, Veng said.
Cambodia hopes that the ASEAN countries would implement a policy of "no-visa" to ASEAN visitors within ASEAN members, he said.
