Foreign Investment in China Tops 400 Billion US Dollars
China had made use of foreign investment of over 400 billion U.S. dollars by February 2002, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation said Wednesday.
By February this year, China had approved the establishment of 393,988 foreign-funded businesses, with contractual foreign investment totaling 756.74 billion U.S. dollars, of which 401.1 billion U.S. dollars had been used, the ministry said.
In the first two months of this year, China approved the setting up of 3,963 overseas-funded businesses, a year-on-year growth of 23.65 percent.
During the same period, the total contractual foreign investment reached 11.45 billion U.S. dollars, up 24.41 percent, and the used foreign investment was 5.87 billion U.S. dollars, a 28.37 percent increase.
Foreign Investment in China Soars in January
There was a rapid rise in foreign investment in China in the first month of 2002, sources with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation ( MOFTEC) announced Monday.
In January, China approved the setting up of 2,370 overseas- funded businesses, a year-on-year growth of 45.58 percent, according to the MOFTEC.
Total contractual foreign investment reached 7187 million U.S. dollars, up 47.97 percent. The realized foreign investment in January was 2966 million U.S. dollars, an impressive 33.54 percent increase.
