According to a survey conducted by Taiwan "Ministry of Economic Affairs", by the end of last year, some 74.7 percent of Taiwan businessmen had made their investment in the Chinese mainland, an increase of 5 percent over the previous two years.
The survey shows that among the potential investors, 77.1 percent favor China's mainland. This indicates that the investment fervor for manufactures has been on the rise.
The survey involves a total of 1910 manufacturers.
As pointed out in survey analysis, major reasons for the heating-up of Taiwan's investment to Chinese mainland should be attributed to pressures incurred due to the rise of salary, appreciation of Taiwan new currency and price hike of real estates in Taiwan.
In the meanwhile, Taiwan's investment to the Chinese mainland has always been encouraged while the great business potentials in the mainland are also a lure for businessmen from Taiwan to invest in the mainland.
China will continue to encourage Taiwan investment in the mainland and protect Taiwan investors' interests after the two sides of the Taiwan Straits enter the World Trade Organization (WTO), a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council said Wednesday.
Statistics from Taiwan "Ministry of Economic Affairs" show that in the first nine months of this year, direct Taiwan investment in China's mainland totaled US$2.122bn, a near 19 percent increase over last year.
