The delegation arrived here Sunday for a six-day visit to hear China's presentations and to learn more about the country's bid to host the 2010 World Exposition in Shanghai.
Government support confirmed
Zhu said that the Chinese government and people attach great importance to the bidding process and are paying much attention to BIE's current visit.
He also said that China's presentation in Beijing Monday morning, made by Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi, showed the Chinese government's and people's deep desire to host the exposition and to further increase friendly contacts between China and the rest of the world.
Zhu said that in his work report, which was warmly received by delegates at the opening of the current Fifth Session of the Ninth National People's Congress, he confirmed the Chinese government's support for the hosting of the exposition in Shanghai.
He stressed the Chinese government and people will abide strictly by all the commitments made in the bidding report, saying that if China is successful, the Chinese government will ensure the earnest implementation of the conventions relating to international exhibitions.
It will also provide financial support and guarantees for the exposition and take every possible measure to ensure security and other necessities for all participants, especially those from developing countries, added the premier.
Zhu also briefed the visitors on China's remarkable achievements over the past two decades and longer.
