MAC: Cross-strait Direct Flight, If Possible, Priority to be Given to Shanghai and Beijing
Chen Ming-tong, vice-chairman of "Mainland Affairs Council (MAC)", said that if the mainland and Taiwan can open direct flight, priority consideration will be given to Beijing and Shanghai, but this should be accomplished through negotiations between both sides.

Chen said that in planning the airports, the Island's actual needs must be considered, Shanghai is sure to be the most wanted, Beijing will also be under consideration.
According to Taiwan "Ministry of Transportation and Communications" (MOTC), cross-Straits direct flight will adopt the principle of "Sea First, Air Second and Cargo First, Passenger Second", Taiwan "Economic Development Advisory Council" also has an overall plan for the direct flight, so far, the "MOTC" has completed planning for air transport technology.
The "MOTC" said that the technology plan includes linkage work of flight control, plan for air routes, research on flight terminals, aircraft entry and exit document and check-up on passports and some others, all these plans shall be carried out after negotiations by the two sides.
Taiwan Authorities Urged to Open Direct Flights with Mainland
Some Taiwan investors in China's mainland, Wednesday in Taipei, called on Taiwan authorities to earnestly review their current mainland policy, give businessmen their due status and open cross-Strait direct flights as quickly as possible.
A news briefing held by Taiwan's "China Taiwanese Merchants Development Promotion Commission" Wednesday invited chairmen of 19 Taiwan Merchants Associations of Beijing, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Chongqing and Shenzhen to attend the meeting. In detail
