The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held a regular meeting of its State Coordinators Council in Moscow on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The participants from the six member-countries of the SCO discussed the preparations for the regular summit of their state heads, which is scheduled for June 2002 in Russia's second largest city of St. Petersburg. They also dealt with issues related to the organization's current and future activities.
All participants agreed to accelerate the drafting of the SCO Charter, the organization's constitutional document, in order to strike a final formulation ahead of the SCO foreign ministers' meeting due in April in Moscow.
Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Guchang and his counterparts from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan attended Wednesday's meeting, which is underway in an atmosphere of full trust and cooperation.
