Musharraf's Remarks on Gujarat Amount to Interference: India

India on Monday denounced Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's remarks on the communal violence in west India's Gujarat state, saying it amounted to interference in its internal affairs, the Press Trust of India ( PTI) reported.
President Musharraf said Saturday that the Godhra attack, which killed 58 train passengers, mostly Hindus, and sparked off large- scale conflict across Gujarat claiming nearly 500 lives, was deplorable and should not provide a license for "reprehensible brutalities and violence against the Muslim community."
"There has been a complete disrespect for facts" in much of the statements from Pakistan and India had to draw the conclusion that "Pakistan is seeking to derive propagandist advantage" from the unfortunate developments in Gujarat, which India did not accept, an Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson was quoted as saying.
"Given the profile of Pakistan's activities which we have seen over the past and the involvement of Pakistani intelligence agencies in promoting terrorism in India, in the normal circumstances, there is every reason for us to investigate whether there is a larger design to this whole situation," the spokesperson added.
