US Troops Attacked by Unidentified Gunmen in Afghanistan: AIP

Unidentified gunmen attacked U.S. troops deployed at an airport in eastern Afghan city of Khost with rockets and light weapons fire early on Monday, according to the Peshawar-based Afghan Islamic Press.

Unidentified gunmen attacked U.S. troops deployed at an airport in eastern Afghan city of Khost with rockets and light weapons fire early on Monday, according to the Peshawar-based Afghan Islamic Press.

The private news agency quoted sources in Khost as saying that the attack occurred at 1:30 am (local time) in the morning. The U. S. forces returned fire, and after 30 minutes, called for air strikes on the eastern part of the airport, from where the attack was suspected to have been launched.

The AIP gave no details on casualties.
