POLO of Shanghai VW Priced from 127,500 to 148,000 Yuan

The Shanghai Volkswagen Auto Corp. (Shanghai VW) has finally fixed the price of its POLO autos, from RMB127,500 yuan to RMB148,000 yuan for different models.

Fixed Prices of POLO

The Shanghai Volkswagen Auto Corp. (Shanghai VW) has finally fixed the price of its POLO autos, from RMB127,500 yuan to RMB148,000 yuan for different models.

According to sources from Shanghai VW, the POLO cars will be available for customers on April 8. The prices are as follows: RMB127,500 yuan and RMB128,100 yuan for two types of 1.4-liter manual economy models respectively, RMB140,000 yuan for the 1.4-liter manual luxury model, RMB135,500 yuan and RMB136,100 yuan for two types of 1.4-liter automatic economy models respectively, and RMB148,000 yuan for the 1.4-liter automatic luxury model.

Keep pace with the world

The Shanghai VW introduced the new type of POLO to keep pace with the world, only three months after it has been formally introduced to the European market by the German Volkswagen. As the fourth generation of POLO, the new model is at once of the new technologies and modern vogue. In view of the keen competition in auto market after China��s entry into WTO, the price of POLO in China has attracted much attention from the public.

Fully considered WTO issue

The latest POLO prices in Europe showed that at present, a 1.4-liter manual model of POLO is some 13,000 Euro (about RMB110,000 yuan) in the European market, which is equivalent to RMB160,000 yuan in Chinese market after adding the current duty. Even if the import duty of automobile drops to 25 percent in 2006, the price of imported POLO will be some RMB120,000 to 130000 yuan. Therefore, the Shanghai VW proclaimed that it has fully considered the WTO issue in fixing the price of POLO. It may be said that the POLO of Shanghai VW is in step with the world not only in the technology, but also in the price.

As reported, the Shanghai VW is scheduled to manufacture altogether 30,000 POLO autos this year.
