Ji Xiaogang and Wang Zhigang, taxi drivers in Beijing, who have just received medals for their excellent services during U.S. President Bush's visit to Beijing, are now serving the members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC).

To ensure time efficiency, Wang Zhigang has prepared many bags of instant coffee. While serving White House staffers in late February, he often got up around 04: 00 A.M. Yet he was required to concentrate on driving and not to doze off. So, coffee became a great help to him.

He said, "Now I am serving the annual sessions of the CPPCC and the NPC. I feel that I have a heavy load on my shoulders. That is why I have prepared several bags of instant coffee in case of need."

Ji Xiaogang, 44, undertakes to serve the members of the Jiangxi Provincial Delegation to the NPC. He said that from March 1 to 15, drivers will have to be ready for service at anytime. "So, during this period I can neither go out nor go home."

He said, "Now what I am worried about the most is my 70-year-old mother who is suffering from diabetic. My mother has just left hospital. Before coming here, I had often visited her. I cannot see her for these ten-plus days, so I am missing her very much."
