The naval forces of China and South American countries like Chile and Brazil can learn much from each other as they have many things in common, Chinese navy chief Shi Yunsheng said on Saturday when he concluded a goodwill visit to the two countries.
There are many areas where they can share their experiences, including how to improve the navy's fighting capacity and upgrade equipment management, Shi told Xinhua.
Shi, heading a Chinese navy delegation, met Chilean Defense Minister Michelle Bachelet and Admiral Miguel Angel Vergara during his five-day visit.
The commander-in-chief of the Chinese Navy visited Chilean barracks and other military installations in various ports.
Shi arrived in Chile on Tuesday after a trip to Brazil. He is leaving Saturday for Australia via Argentina.
