The upcoming annual session of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) has no plan to adjust the grouping of its members, a spokesman said here Saturday.

Qi Huaiyuan, spokesman for the Fifth Session of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee, made the remark in response to a question at a press conference on whether law workers will form a separate group in the top advisory body beginning from this year.

However, he said the CPPCC will look into the changes of social strata in China since the country launched its reform and opening-up drive more than two decades ago and their impact on the top advisory body, and accordingly adjust its grouping of members.

Members of the CPPCC National Committee currently represent 34 social groups, including private entrepreneurs, scientific workers, as well as literary figures.

Timely adjustment will make CPPCC more relevant and inclusive, and help consolidate national unity under the new situation, the spokesman said.
