Visit to Vietnam Achieves Full Success: President Jiang

Chinese top leader Jiang Zemin concluded his three-day official goodwill visit to Vietnam and left Da Nang for home Friday afternoon.

Chinese top leader Jiang Zemin concluded his three-day official goodwill visit to Vietnam and left Da Nang for home Friday afternoon.

Upon his departure, he said his visit to Vietnam achieved full success.

Jiang was seen off by Vu Khoan, member of Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and local officials at the airport in this port city in central Vietnam.

Jiang, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese president, started his visit in Hanoi on February 27.

During his visit, Jiang held talks with General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee Nong Duc Manh and Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong. He also met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van An and former General Secretaries of the CPV Central Committee Do Muoi and Le Kha Phieu.

In a telegraph of gratitude that he sent to Manh and Luong uponhis departure, Jiang said his visit achieved full success. He expressed the belief that the good-neighborly, friendly relations of all-round cooperation between the two parties, two countries and two peoples will develop further in an in-depth, stable and healthy way in the new century. He thanked the Vietnamese Communist Party, the Vietnamese government and the Vietnamese people for their warm reception.
