Leader of Afghanistan's interim government Hamid Karzai will visit Moscow in mid-March, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov handed an invitation to Karzai during his visit to Kabul earlier in February, said the ministry.
Moscow is prepared to forge long-term friendly ties with Afghanistan, Ivanov said.
The Afghan interim administration has repeatedly stressed the importance of Russia's contribution to Afghanistan, and advocated Moscow's further involvement in the political and economic revival of the country.
