Diplomatic Official Hails Success of One Country, Two Systems
The Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Ji Peiding Tuesday hailed the successful implementation of "one country, two systems" principle in Hong Kong at a cocktail party to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year.
The Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Ji Peiding Tuesday hailed the successful implementation of "one country, two systems" principle in Hong Kong at a cocktail party to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Ji said that over the past year, the principle of "one country,two systems", "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong" and "a high degree of autonomy" continued to be carried out successfully.
He said his office dealt with all foreign affairs related to Hong Kong strictly in accordance with the principle of "one country, two systems" and the Basic Law, and kept a close cooperation with all of the departments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Ji said he was grateful for support and assistance to his office by the Hong Kong government, foreign diplomats in Hong Kongand Hong Kong people in different trades, and he also expresses his hope that the Hong Kong government led by Tung Chee Hwa will made greater progress in the Year of Horse in a bid to build Hong Kong into an international metropolis in Asia.
Over 400 people attended the cocktail party, which was given bythe Office of the commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong.
Included were officials from the Hong Kong government, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong KongSpecial Administrative Region, the Hong Kong Garrison of the PLA military Forces and foreign consulates in Hong Kong. The Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa also attended the party.
