Chinese Vice President Meets Cote D'Ivoire Guests

Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao met in Beijing Tuesday afternoon with Moise Lida Kouassi, Cote D'Ivoire Minister of State for Defense and Protection of Nationals.

Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao met in Beijing Tuesday afternoon with Moise Lida Kouassi, Cote D'Ivoire Minister of State for Defense and Protection of Nationals.

Hu, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, saidthat relations between China and Cote D'Ivoire have developed smoothly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1983.

He said that China and Cote D'Ivoire have understood and supported each other in international affairs. China thanks Cote D'Ivoire for its adherence on the one-China stance and its support on the human rights issue, he added.

Hu said that the Chinese government attaches importance to its relationship with Cote D'Ivoire, and will further cooperation between the two countries and military forces in the 21st century on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

Lida spoke highly of the friendly cooperation between Cote D'Ivoire and China, thanked China for its support, and said he hopedto cooperate further with China.

He said that Cote D'Ivoire will adhere to the one-China policy.
