East China's Zhejiang Province has attained remarkable results in its efforts to get industries to use reclaimable resources so as to save energy and protect the environment.
Statistics show that about 76 percent of raw materials used in papermaking in Zhejiang nowadays come from waste paper, which is collected and used again after undergoing recycling.
Experts say that 76 percent is an excellent achievement for Zhejiang, because the average figure for the world is 44 percent, and 38 percent for China.
Making use of waste paper can reduce pollution and increase economic benefits. During the past few decades, Zhejiang has updated papermaking equipment to be capable of using more waste paper.
Traditionally, the main material for papermaking is paper pulp, which mainly comes from timber. Experts say one piece of paper canbe recycled at least twice.
