Israeli Forces Attack Arafat's Headquarters in Gaza

Israeli army helicopters and naval boats attacked on a predawn on Wednesday Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's headquarters on Gaza City's beachside, Palestinian eyewitnesses reported.

Israeli army helicopters and naval boats attacked on a predawn on Wednesday Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's headquarters on Gaza City's beachside, Palestinian eyewitnesses reported.

Palestinian security sources said that at least five Palestinian officers of the Elite Force 17 to protect Arafat's offices were killed when a special Israeli commandos unit tried toraid Arafat's headquarters.

The witnesses said that Israeli naval boats fired several shells at Arafat's headquarters, where Israeli helicopters flew over the headquarters, and fired heavy gunfire at the rooms into the headquarters.

Palestinian elite Force 17 arrived at the scene and fired back at the Israeli naval boats which tried to send Israeli troops to break into Arafat's headquarters that is called "Al Muntada."

Ambulances arrived at the scene and took five Palestinians thatwere killed in addition to at least 10 Palestinian Force 17 officers who were injured during the attack.

Several explosions and the buzz of bullets were heard at the western neighborhood of Remal in Gaza City, said the witnesses.

Palestinian security officials are afraid that there would be an attempt of the Israeli army to occupy Gaza City western neighborhood, and seize Arafat's headquarters.

The security officials said that the Israeli army action is a retaliation to a series of attacks against.
