People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Amien Rais said here Monday that Indonesia upheld the one-China policy on its foreign policy.

"We upholds one-China policy. However, we will maintain people- to-people relationship with Taiwan since thousands of Taiwanese tourists, traders and investments have long poured our country," Rais said after having a meeting with officials of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office here.

The officials visited Rais' office to devote an aid package for flood victims in Jakarta.

Leader of the country's highest policy-making body said that he had suggested to the officials to hand the aid package directly to Jakarta authority, as the Assembly was not the right place for such business.
