PFLP Claims Responsibility for Mall Blast

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) on Saturday claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing attack in a shopping mall at the Jewish settlement near the West Bank town of Qalqilya, Palestinian sources said.

This attack came in revenge for "The Zionists crimes against our defenseless people," said the PFLP in a statement distributed in northern West Bank, where the suicide bombing attack took place.

Three Jewish settlers were killed and 30 others injured when a bomb detonated into the shopping mall at the Jewish settlement of Karni Shomron near the West Bank town of Qalqilya.

Following the incident, Israeli security sources believe that the blast could be a result of a suicide bombing attack carried out by a Palestinian suicide bomber.

The PFLP was also responsible for the assassination of the Israeli far right-wing cabinet minister Rehavam Ze'evi in a hotel in Jerusalem last October after Israel assassinated the PFLP chief Abu Ali Mustafa in August in the West Bank town of Ramallah.

Earlier on Saturday Israeli troops shot dead three Palestinians in central Gaza Strip and assassinated a Palestinian militant, member of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the West Bank city of Jenin by detonating a bomb planted into his car.

It is reported that the attack on the shopping mall could be a revenge for Saturday's assassination of a Hamas member in Jenin.

Hamas rejects the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. Its armed wing has carried out dozens of suicide bombing attacks against Israel.
