Chinese Film Week aimed at enhancing the understanding between China and Kuwait opens on Saturday evening at the Kuwait Culture Centre in the capital.
Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zeng Xuyong hailed at the opening ceremony the great progress Chinese films have made since China opened to the outside world, noting that Chinese films have won great reputation around the world and got prizes on several international film festivals.
He noted that Kuwaiti audiences can better understand China and the Chinese culture through the films which reflect modern China and Chinese new lives during the film week, jointly held by the Chinese Embassy and the Kuwait Council of Literature and Arts (KCLA).
Director of KCLA Cinema Bureau Ahmad Nouvri also said that Chinese films shown during the week can help Kuwaitis have more chances to know China and its people.
He voiced confidence that the film week can strengthen the cultural exchanges between China and Kuwait.
Several Chinese films with Arabic subtitles will be shown during the week, including Black Eyes, which got the golden prize on the 10th Damascus Film Festival and comedies Spicy Love Soup and A Beautiful New World.
