Abdul Ghani Butt, chairman of the All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has said that the only viable solution to the Kashmir dispute lies through a meaningful dialogue involving Pakistan, India and the Kashmiris, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported on Monday.
Ghani Butt made the remarks in an interview with daily "Deccan Chronicle."
He said India and Pakistan are parties to the dispute in terms of history whereas Kashmiris constitute the principal party.
"Where there are three parties, no two parties can arrive at an agreement or settlement of the dispute. What we need to understand is that we should involve all the three parties in a positive political exercise and then find out a lasting solution," the APHC leader stressed.
As for the contact between India and Kashmir, Ghani Butt said the APHC is ready for negotiations. "We want a peaceful settlement of the dispute of Jammu and Kashmir. But the peaceful settlement requires that all the three parties join hands together," he said.
APHC is the major organization of political parties in India- held part of the disputed Kashmir.
