Temperatures for most areas in China during the week long Spring Festival will be slightly higher than last year, according to the latest forecast from the China Central Meteorological Station.
According to the forecast, from February 11 to 13, the country' s weather will be clear or cloudy, but temperatures will remain comparatively high.
However, after February 13, a cold current will lie over the east of China's northwest area and the area north of the Huaihe River.
South China will have rain and snow during that time. Temperatures there will also drop.
The warm weather is bringing more colour to the festival as some young women in Beijing and Xi'an streets are wearing eye- catching bright skirts.
However meteorologists point out winter will not end until the end of February and another cold spell could still arrive.
It is still early to judge whether this winter can be described as a really "warm winter".
