Shanghai Reports Marked Rise in Foreign Trade
Shanghai, China's leading industrial and commercial city, registered 9.57 billion U.S. dollars in foreign trade last month, a record 31.9 percent higher than January last year.
Shanghai, China's leading industrial and commercial city, registered 9.57 billion U.S. dollars in foreign trade last month, a record 31.9 percent higher than January last year.
The figure included 5.8 billion U.S. dollars in exports, an increase of 37.4 percent, and 3.77 billion U.S. dollars in imports,up 24.3 percent.
According to statistics, there was a marked increase in the export of traditional commodities such as clothing and accessories,textiles and shoes.
A big rise was recorded in the importation of cars, trucks, paper pulp, plastics, steel products, copper and copper products, and automatic processing equipment and components and parts.
Exports to markets in Asia, Europe and north America rose by 56percent, nine percent and 11.9 percent respectively, with imports from Japan and the United States going up by 33.1 percent and 20.3percent, respectively.
