Senior Chinese Leaders Attend Spring Festival Show

Senior Chinese leaders attended a theatrical show Sunday night at the Great Hall of the People here to greet the Spring Festival, which falls Tuesday.

Senior Chinese leaders attended a theatrical show Sunday night at the Great Hall of the People here to greet the Spring Festival, which falls Tuesday.

Vice President Hu Jintao and other leaders including Wei Jianxing, Li Lanqing, Ding Guangen, Zhang Wannian were among the audience gathered to mark the coming Year of the Horse, which is one of the 12 astrological symbols based on China's zodiac.

The Great Hall of the People was decorated as an entertainment center today with the corridors arranged for traditional art shows, chess and card playing, acrobatics, and puppetry, conducted before professional art troupes presented a gala in the meeting hall.

The event featured Chinese opera, songs and ballet dances to demonstrate people's good wishes for the country's future.
