as planned despite the death of her sister Princess Margaret, it was officially announced here Sunday.
The Australian Associated Press quoted Prime Minister John Howard as saying Sunday that the Queen's visit to Australia to attend next month's Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting on Queensland's Sunshine Coast would go ahead as planned.
The Queen is due to arrive in Australia on February 27 and openthe Commonwealth government heads meeting scheduled on March 2.
"We've already had some discussion with the palace about this .... The visit will go ahead," Howard was quoted as saying.
On the death of Princess Margaret, the prime minister said that"I think it's a sad event. She had bad health and I certainly express on behalf of all Australians my condolences to the Queen and her mother and her children."
Elizabeth II, the British monarch, is Australia's queen also despite the former British colony is an independent country now.
