Chinese Spring Festival Officially Announced to be a National Festival in Indonesia

According to the news of Feb 8 from Beijing, the Indonesian Government has officially promulgated the Chinese Spring Festival a national festival of Indonesia as from this year onwards.

For this, A. A. Kustia, Indonesian Ambassador to China conveyed in the embassy his good wishes on behalf of the Indonesian people to the Chinese people and to the overseas Chinese worldwide.

He expressed: "We feel very happy this year that we are going to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival together with the Chinese people and the people of Chinese origin all over the world. The Spring Festival has from now on become a grand national festival of Indonesia. The overseas Chinese in Indonesia have made great contributions in diversifying the Indonesian culture, maintaining social and folk customs and promoting the development of economy in Indonesia. Here, we would like to extend our greetings to the Chinese people all over the world, wishing them a happy spring festival and a brisk booming in anything and everything as they wish for."
