The ex-Taliban members are regrouping into another organization in neighboring Pakistan and this should be prevented, Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah said here on Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference, Abdullah said that Hamid Karzai, chairman of the Afghan interim administration, focused on the issue during his one-day trip to Pakistan on Friday.

Abdullah said that as the campaign against the Taliban and Al Qaeda is going on in Afghanistan, some of their members fled and are regrouping and form a new organization. "If we can cooperate fully on this issue, we can prevent it from happening," he said.

Asked if the Taliban could join a new administration in Afghanistan, the foreign minister stressed that the Taliban is "part of the problem" and can never be "part of solution," adding that all its members should be treated as war criminals.

The Taliban cannot be "politically inside or outside Afghanistan," he affirmed.

Speaking about the relations with Pakistan, Abdullah said he was very optimistic about the relationship.

"I'm optimistic that from now on, we will move in the right direction ... because the situation changes, the atmosphere changes," he said.

On Paktya Province dispute between the local governor and the government-appointed governor, Abdullah said the administration isreviewing the case and "all options" will be considered.

In the southern province, Padshah Zadran, the governor appointed by the interim administration, was defeated by Alhaj Sayfula, another famous person in the province, who claimed himself be the governor.
